Feminista Recommended : Almaarii

My Desolated Hut

Closet, for me, is a space where I can be myself without manifesting the identity that costs me my mental peace. It is a space of calm, comfort, and desolation. My closet would be located on a quaint beach, with blue waters on the side and green grasslands on the other. My closet is a small hut with two windows overlooking both sides of the natural scenery. I have a table, a chair and a bed for myself. The bookshelves are filled with my favorite authors including Sylvia Plath, Kamala Das, and others. My table has a lamp, a vase with dead flowers, and a few notebooks where I scribble my thoughts. The room is neither too tidy nor too dirty, it's just how I would keep it without worrying about what people would think. It has clothes lying around, but in a particular space where it is supposed to. The floor is sandy. I have a gramophone, which plays Blues and Jazz all day long. And while I go to sleep at night, I watch the stars surround my closet as it will never disappear. My closet is my mental peace and everything that I associate with it.

Almaari

Lived Once, Dreamed Twice

mapping an island is fun once you realize that you have nothing but time, fresh greens, animal solidarity,

and the slippery crystal sea. you can spend warm turquoise days wandering around the verdant croissant

cluster, answering to no one, a new nook each day, foraging for berries and mushrooms and stems, turning them into crisp, pulverized, macerated, fermented, honeyed orange lavender delights, making yours the strange twinkling trinkets left by those before you, who must have stayed in the same old white ruin whose architecture one cannot trace to any known civilization, as you find your way back to a sliver of clarity that tells you that you can't really pin down this teeming underbelly through any human theoretical model, anymore than you can permanently trace your dreams on the sand, surrounded by the scattered attempts of others left behind in hopes that someone somewhere might find them one day, and understand, if even a little, what they wanted to say, pulsating weird oddities of nature whose heartbeats couldn't contain themselves any longer, impulse carved into rotting diaries, defunct personal blogs, shell leached dyes, weathered sculptures, diseased film roll, decaying banjos, glitched-out CRT monitors, potion tinctures, the sea moistened loom.

like many, I am fond of the ocean. it does not carry shame, is not confounded by the mysterious and jagged, and will not falter in front of humans who recite to it awkward poetry, stirred by ancient melancholy, as their strained eyes settle on the horizon, and think, if even for a moment, well, this sure feels like a dream.

'There’s a church and laid in front of it is a Bible, surrounding which there are lots of Loreto nuns as well as people of Nepali origin, all very tall with me in the center, extra small, with my small rainbow heart, slowly growing and waiting to paint the town rainbow. The Kanchanjunga is in the background, unconquered and like the Buddha sleeping. .. because everyone knew I was gay even before I knew I was gay. LMAO. So my closet was really an open-air structure of unsaid traditions and my existence flouting them!

The Facade

A spacious, turquoise coloured bourdoir with .

myriads of clothes, books and memorabilias. .

Only clothes aren't used to take cover. .

The behavioural patterns, the thinking processes, the looks one wish to carry which are subjected to prejudice and bigotry are also to be covered.

One has the onus of creating a giant outfit that hides you.

He sees this outfit hung in the middle of the bourdoir and when one wears this he is suddenly invisible, non-existent.

He goes about daily life wearing this attire of invisibility. The person inside screams, try to break away from the shackles of this clothing.

He invariably fails.

One day he burns the cloth with the cigarette--an act of vengeance. .

A burnt hole, and the light of soul illuminates from that tiny hole. .

The process of liberation was thus discovered. .

The cloth was lit on fire from the lighter. It burns, along with it burns the whole closet. .

The innermost person is liberated with the ashes of this burning closet. He is purified from the fire offering to the gods of queers.
